As of February 28, 2025, France had 159,963 publicly accessible charging points, representing a 30% increase over the past year. This barometer is produced by Avere-France and the Ministry of Ecological Transition, based on data from Gireve.
February 2025 confirms the continued growth of the charging network in France, with a total of 159,963 publicly accessible charging points by the end of the month. Over the past 12 months, the total number of charging points has increased by 30%. Notably, the number of fast-charging points (150kW and above) has seen a significant rise of 58%, growing from 19,848 in February 2024 to 31,335 in February 2025. At the same time, the number of slow and accelerated charging points (50kW and below) has increased from 104,498 to 129,872, a 24.3% growth. While the network is expanding, improvements in accessibility and reliability are still needed. The rise of high-power charging is a positive sign, supporting the electrification of mobility, including long-distance travel and freight transport. Ensuring a well-balanced distribution of charging stations, both in terms of location and power mix, is crucial to achieving consistent coverage, reducing disparities between urban and rural areas, and meeting the needs of users without private parking at home.
